BAD TO GOOD
it's not what you think.
sometimes bad things happen to people,
just so something good can happen to someone else.
needless to say, i got two for one.
BLIND ACTUARIES
have you ever been at an event where a band made up of college kids are playing?
correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems like you never expect them to be any good.
that's exactly what i was thinking when the blind actuaries walked on stage.
i am going to have a great time laughing at them.
i couldn't have been more wrong.
they were amazing.
their music just has this groove that lures you in.
every single one of them are extremely talented.
i normally don't spontaneously buy music.
and i normally don't buy cd's.
this was not a normal band.
best five dollars i've ever spent.

IT'S A BOOK
hahaha... haha.. ha.
i wish it would read the whole book.
the ending is the best part.
i suggest finding somewhere (i think they're called libraries?) and reading it.
HOLOGRAM
this is quite possibly my favorite hologram poster.
when i was working for Apple, iTunes was given the rights to distribute everything The Beatles had ever written. i remember we totally blew it out of proportion. we had cutouts of the fab four in our store window and played their music nonstop for months on end. i've probably heard every song a good nine or ten times now. but come together on this album has never gotten old for me. i always feel like there could be a much bigger resolution to the climax and so it just keeps reeling me in.
did they do that on purpose?
if so, it's working.

CHANGE OF HEAD
from this:
to this:
and now, this:
i think it feels a little more personal.
more changes to come.
tell me what you think!
i made the first one on my iPhone. it was difficult because i don't have much room to work with.
the second one was done on my iPad using Adobe Ideas.
the third was also done on my iPad, but this time i used AutoDesk Sketchbook Pro.
as i got better, they got better.

YUCKY HAIR
mmmmmmmmm.

i came home tonight to get a haircut and to do my laundry.
(not all of that is my hair, my brothers got haircuts, too)
HOME TEACHING
i'm about to go home teaching for the first time in my new ward.
i suspect this will be a little different than going with my dad...
i miss seeing him everyday.

ELDER CROSLAND
i consider Nate my best friend. he's one of the coolest guys i know. i remember when we met each other in the sixth grade. it was the first day of school (and my first day at that school, we had just moved to utah) and we were playing football on the playground before school started. after being put on the same team, we both looked down at each other's wrists. we had livestrong wristbands on (right before they became really popular) and we were stoked about it. he started calling me tex and we became really good friends. we stayed friends throughout junior high and we would hangout off and on. but over these last two years we've become really great friends. he got me hooked on a tv show called top gear and we would both obsess over cool cars. this last summer we hung out every day. seriously, almost every day. our days always consisted of ping pong, board games, and breakfast burritos. he's leaving on the fifth to cleveland, ohio. i am going to miss him so much. he'll do amazing work there. i wouldn't be surprised if he converted the entire city, especially after hearing his talk today!
i'll miss you big guy.
God be with you till we meet again.

SEE
it's amazing the things in life we take for granted.
like seeing our own faces.
these nomads are seeing their faces for the first time.
it makes me wonder,
if you stepped back and looked
at your own big picture.
would you smile at the face smiling back?
would you like what you saw?
would you change it?

DIE-UH-BEET-US
is ninety-four good or bad?
[okay, no. i don't have diabetes. i was just trying to live a minute in zach's shoes.]
SOLDIERS
from the game last night.
i was telling zach as we walked past the soldiers holding the flag under the stands how much i respect them.
they are brave guys. i wish i could do what they do.
maybe one day...
BYU FOOTBALL
i miss the good old days.
that was pretty sad last night.
but it was fun sitting with all of our friends!
and not to mention the drunk utes behind us.
they were a hoot.

YELLOW
i feel like i could use a little more yellow in my life.
there's too much white and black and grey.
if i had to pick a color to change things up,
it would definitely be yellow.
CONFESSION
i was never good at doing my homework or studying in high school.
things are changing fast.
i've been doing homework all morning.
wait, what time is it?
scratch that. i've been doing homework all day.
things are changing fast.
i've been doing homework all morning.
wait, what time is it?
scratch that. i've been doing homework all day.

SIBS
i went home on monday night to see my family and get ordained as an elder
(and to do laundry, and get free food).
my sister just got a job at yogurt bliss so we went to visit her.
adam wasn't feeling too well, so he stayed home.
i have the coolest brothers!
not the best pictures but, who gives.
(sorry, my mind is all over the place right now.)
BUSY BOY (MAN)
i'm no longer a boy.
ah tah tah! hold your tongue!
i'm a man.
and i am a busy man.
i got ordained as an elder.
i was just called as the first counselor in the elder's quorum.
and i'm home the evening coordinator.
i'm loving all of the church related things i'm getting to do.
i'm especially loving the firesides and devotionals.
on sunday we heard from Dallin H. Oaks,
and today we heard from Neil L. Andersen.
i love going to this school.
i love going to this school.

DIFFERENCE
one year ago today i was given an opportunity that changed my life.
oh what a difference a year makes.
HAPPILY ALONE
last night i learned from a friend.
i learned to walk without a destination.
i learned how to live with a purpose.
i learned how to give and take.
i learned that some people get it.
i learned that those people are rare.
i learned that you have to be care-full.
i learned the meaning of affinity.
i learned that listening is better.
i learned that we have a chance
to change the world.
i learned what it means to be alone.
and i learned that i'll be happily alone.
for as long as it takes.
FOR YOU
here's to the crazy ones. the misfits. the rebels. the troublemakers. the round pegs in the square holes. the ones who see things differently. they're not fond of rules. and they have no respect for the status quo. you can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. about the only thing you can't do is ignore them. because they change things. they push the human race forward. and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
thank you for everything.
you're crazy and i love it.
i'll take your advice.
thank you for everything.
you're crazy and i love it.
i'll take your advice.
